NES on the iPhone

This project is still in the beginning phase, but looks VERY cool.

Best. Thesis. Ever.

So you're sitting there playing pong on your Atari 2600 thinking about how much the controller sucks. You could move up to a more modern console, or you could think outside the box as Jennifer from New York University did.

For her demo, Chowdhury made a video of herself and a partner playing Pong. He stands behind her with his hands near her shoulders, and she reaches back toward his hips. When he touches her left breast, the paddle moves to the left. The sensor in the right bra cup moves the Pong paddle to the right.

Let me break this down...

Playstation 3 wireless controller < Boobs

Xbox 360 wireless controller < Boobs

Wii motion sensoring controller < Boobs

That's how I'd score it anyway.

[OSF] Tecmo Bowl making a comeback

The makers of the classic NES football game Tecmo Bowl and the superior Tecmo Super Bowl are in the process of making an updated version of the game for today's consoles. As long as you can still do this, I'm all in... Here's MJD's take on it from The Debriefing... Picture a night of Tecmo Bowl with your friends right now. You'd put the game in, and for about 30 seconds, you'd be a giddy young buck. Within a couple of minutes, though, you'll say to yourself, "Really, this is it? I run in zig-zags and have just two different buttons to press?" Then one guy will leave because he has to go clean out his gutters or his wife will leave him, and another guy will pass out behind the couch because this is the one night of the month he's allowed to drink and he overdid it. From there, another friend will ask if he can turn the game off and watch Grey's Anatomy, and the one guy who does want to play, the unemployed stoner who has played Tecmo Bowl for three hours every day since 1988, will call you a sissy because you're saying this whole thing was a bad idea. Let's hope the new game has more then 4 plays to pick from and maybe a hair better graphics. As of this post there's no real information on specifics of the game.

Cat with bow and arrow golf game

This may look goofy, and it's a Japanese site, but the game is addictive as hell. Remember that you can shoot the arrow while you're in mid-air. [Play]

Video Games turn 40 today

May 15th marks the 40 year anniversary of the first games hooked up to the television. An article on the 1up site tells the story of Ralph Baer, Bill Harrison, and Bill Rusch working at the Sanders Associates company on a little game called Pong. They go into a great deal of detail on the development of the console, going so far as to include a number of the group's original notes on the project. [1up.com] via [Slashdot]
